Will you ever give up on cigarettes, Sonic Boom?

H2Ö: So this is about to be your first trip to Finland, right? Have you ever even been nearby?

SB: To Sweden and Norway, yes. Several times since ’89.

How aware are you of the Finnish music scene? It seems that there are quite a lot bands around here influenced by your whereabouts. You’ve done some mastering work or something for the band Black Lizard, at least.

I only know the Black Lizard guys. And Panasonic / Pan sonic… I’m not very up on that otherwise I’m afraid… but I’m looking forward to checking out some of the bands at the festival.

Do you get easily annoyed if people talk about you only in the context Spacemen 3?

No. I guess I’m touched that they talk about me in any context.

What is your philosophy of time? How much do you miss the past or just being younger?

I think time is elastic and that certain ’eras’ or ’decades’ produce much more interesting and meaningful music than others.
I don’t really miss either the past or being younger .

How does your creative process work nowadays? Can you locate ”the source” more easily or is it getting tougher?

Experience lets me dial in to stuff much quicker and more satisfactorily each year. I’ve always had a fairly intrinsic ”source”, luckily… I still get juiced about projects and I’m lucky to work with good people.

Will you ever give up on cigarettes?

Thats tough… I LOVE tobacco… I like to mix it too… I’ve used electronic cigs for 6 or 7 years too. I try to keep it minimal & I only smoke 1 or 2 black tobacco cigs (gauloises or gitanes or ducados) each day…

What are your thoughts on selfiesticks?

Ha. I don’t do the selfie vibe, but I do think they’re killer for remote filming… I used one a bunch in the making of this promo for the Panda Bear vs the grim reaper lp.
